William Brownlie (shoemaker), born c1780.   Married 5 March 1811 Dalziel, Lanarkshire, Ann Mackie, born c1780.

They had Issue:

1. William Brownlie, born c1827 Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Coalminer, also agricultural labourer.  Married 1st Margaret Hannah, born c1821 Hamilton, daughter of Thomas Hannah (joiner) and Mary Hamilton.  Margaret died 10 April 1887 Burnbank.  Married 2nd Martha Gillespie (a widow) 18 October 1889 Hamilton.  Martha was born c1827, Paisley, daughter of James Gillespie, coalminer, and Christina Brown.  William died 21 September 1904 at Shuttle Row, Blantyre.

They had Issue: (1st marriage)

1. Thomas Hannah Brownlie, (Mining Contractor), born 18 February 1860 Bothwell.  Married firstly at Hamilton on 31 December 1880 to Marion Clarkson (spinster) born 1860, died 15 January 1923 at Rothesay. Marion was the daughter of James Clarkson (miner) and Marion Stewart.

They had Issue:

1. James Clarkson Brownlie, born 11 February 1883 in Blantyre.

2. Marion Stewart Brownlie, born 9 March 1885 in Hamilton.

3. Thomas Hannah Brownlie, born 27 March 1888 in California, U.S.A.  Married Margaret Doven, born 15 August 1896 in England. Thomas died in Balmain, Sydney Australia on 23 August 1938 after migrating to Australia in 1927 aboard the 'Beltana'.  Margaret died in Haberfield, Sydney Australia on 20 May 1946.

They had Issue:

1. Raymond Thomas Brownlie[1], was born on 26 August 1921 at Burnbank, in Scotland.  He married Greta Elaine Saville. They had no Issue.

2. Margaret Winifred Brownlie, born Burnbank, Scotland.  Married Neal Hamilton Shaw, February 1944.  They had two sons, Phillip Brownlie Shaw, born 15 March 1947, and Neil Raymond Shaw, born 31 December 1948.

William Brownlie and Mary Hamilton also had:

4. John Brownlie, born 1890 California, U.S.A. Married Helen Anderson.

They had issue:

1. Thomas Brownlie, born (?) died (?). Thomas was in the British Navy in a submarine in the Mediterranean Ocean when the Italians sunk it in WW11.
